Music ART and Flowers

Reed Moore

August 2010

I'm afraid I'm going to have to make this one short.

First, thanks to all the musicians who come out Wednesdays to Ghost Town for Open Mic. You make my week! For all those folks who have yet to make it out, bring it on. The night air is comfortable and full of good tunes. We even had a harmonica player(Karen) last week. She threw down down some blues with Sammy Barr on guitar. East of Austin played with their newest member Will Bodley. It is strange seeing Alana Adams looking at music on stage but the band is adding to their repertoire. We missed Brent (NoStoneMusic) for a couple of weeks but he was back with lots of original music and a cover that lit up the crowd.

I was really excited to see Cat Abrahms come up and play. She was a regular at the old shop but has only been to Ghost Town a couple of times. We had a lot more musicians and a fabulous crowd last Wednesday and if I had the time I would go into more detail. Come on out and bring the kids!

Congratulations to Tai Collins and Zach on a very successful show and fund raiser for the Capital Area Food Bank. It is amazing what you can do with a little imagination and Craig's List. I'll let you know when I post show clips on YouTube. Seeing is believing!

My daughter, Leslie, is off to college next Wednesday and life should settle down providing me time for video editing.

Look for a Silent Auction tonight at Open Mic to benefit Leslie's college fund. It's nothing fancy but is for a deserving young lady taking on the world at barely seventeen.

Keep Labor Day weekend open for the car show and Zydeco Festival at Ghost Town! And one last note, when you see Tom Gray or Will Bodley ask them what's with the Monkey business.

Notes and Needs:

*Bass guitar and/or bass-player wanted Wednesday nights.

*As we are providing free video discs to our performing artists, donations of blank CD's are accepted and appreciated, desired, needed, necessary, deemed useful and encouraged... Thanks!

*Expect much more footage of performances from elginARTworks original site as well as recent performances from our current Open Mic forum to be posted on www.youtube.com/elginARTworks .

COMMONLY-SIGHTED MUSICIANS (Or their ghosts.) at Ghost Town: Scott Jones of Hillbilly Havoc, Mr. Nobody, David and Alana Adams of East Of Austin, Phil Ayliffe, Sammy Barr of Mad Havoc/Hillbilly Havoc, Three Of A Kind (Bull, Mrs. Bull, George) and Jason of Mad Havoc.

Lots of other talented singer/songwriters including Bird Legg, Everisto, Jeremy and Sapphire, and Blue-Eyed James have been gracing the stage as we grow. Left-handed Chris from Houston plays Open Mic Wednesday when he is in town and plays Ghost Town impromptu on the weekends. We encourage them to return often and bring their friends.

Many thanks to Donna Frost, Acoustalyn, and the many other musicians who have played Ghost Town on behalf of elginARTworks in the recent months!

I saw on Izzy Cox's website that her new CD has been released and that she was touring with Hank Williams III. Way to go girl!!!!
